Back-to-School Clothing for Refugee Children

Lighting Up Lives Solar Energy for Refugee Families (2)
About the Project

This project provides full school clothing kits—including school uniforms, shoes, and winter bags—for refugee children in Türkiye at the beginning of each academic year. The goal is to support their integration into the Turkish school system and ease the financial burden on their families.

Problem Statement:
Many refugee families in Türkiye live under severe economic hardship and are unable to afford essential school clothing for their children. Without appropriate attire, these children face challenges in school participation, confidence, and social inclusion. Inadequate clothing, especially during colder months, can also impact their health and attendance.

Project Activities:

  • Identification of eligible refugee children through schools and local NGOs.

  • Procurement of quality school uniforms, winter shoes, and weather-appropriate school bags.

  • Distribution to children before the academic year begins.

  • Coordination with local schools to ensure the clothing aligns with school regulations.

Expected Results:

  • 1,000 refugee children will receive full school clothing kits annually.

  • Improved school attendance and participation among refugee students.

  • Enhanced sense of belonging and dignity for vulnerable children.

  • Reduced financial strain on refugee families, allowing them to focus on other urgent needs.

Sustainability and Community Impact:
This project promotes long-term social integration by enabling refugee children to attend school with confidence and dignity. It also reduces drop-out risks caused by social stigma or lack of resources. Collaborating with local stakeholders and involving community volunteers builds a spirit of solidarity and inclusion within host communities.
