Meals Project in Northwest Syria

The Meals Project implemented by Elvefa Relief and Development, focuses on providing basic food support to families in northwest Syria. This region, home to more than 6 million people, including 1.7 million in camps, suffers from severe economic, nutritional and health challenges. High rates of poverty and unemployment, coupled with weak purchasing power, make it difficult for many families to secure their basic needs.

Project objectives

• Improving food security: Providing daily meals to 200 families (1,000 beneficiaries) in northwest Syria.
• Financial relief: Ease the economic burden on families by providing free meals.
• Supporting nutritional needs: ensuring families have access to balanced and nutritious food.

Project justifications

• High poverty and unemployment rates: The poverty rate is more than 85%, and the unemployment rate is 88%, making it difficult for families to secure food.
• Lack of food security: The food security sector suffers from a deficit of more than 51%, which exacerbates food needs.
• Increasing needs: Economic and social conditions require immediate intervention to provide food support.

Project Outputs

• Meal Distribution: Preparing and distributing meals including rice, chicken and milk to 200 families daily for two months.

Project results

• Improving food security: Enhancing food intake for 200 families, ensuring they have adequate food.
• Reducing economic burden: Reducing the financial burden associated with securing food, improving the living conditions of families.
• Reducing food insecurity: Addressing food insecurity in the region, and supporting food security efforts in general.

6. Reporting: Preparing and submitting narrative and financial reports to donors.
7. Impact measurement: Evaluating the impact of the project on beneficiaries after its completion.
